The Unsolved Mystery

                                                        *Web   picture

Nine years ago, on March 2014, the Malaysian plane MH370 disappeared while flying from Kuala Lumpur airport (Malaysia) to Beijing  airport  (China).   Over the years, there were many theories  about the disappearance.

The most 'popular'  theory was that of the pilot's plan to commit suicide and take the plane with its passengers and crew  ( 239 people)  down with him.  The second 'popular' theory was that the plane, a huge Boeing 777,  was carrying something or someone, that  a certain factor wanted gone and never to be found.

Since 2014, there have been  some three major very expensive searches, and three main countries involved: Malaysia, Australia (the plane was believed to have dissappeared close to  her area),  and China (most of the passengers - 153 - were chinese).   Nothing conclusive. Some examined debris found  in the Indian Ocean and other areas,  gave no indication as to the location of the missing plane.

Now, we are being told by aviation experts that the mystery could be solved in a matter of days with the help of advanced technology. They propose a new search based on the belief  that the plane was hijacked and deliberately downed into the ocean  ( in fact, that  resembles the theory with the pilot's suicidal plan).

The missing MH370 has captivated my attention for many months. It's sadly, one of the best mystery stories ever!  I do want the plane to be found,  as this will bring some closure and comfort to the families of the victims, and on the way, will satisfy our curiosity.

  1. Wow, I had never heard of this mystery. So sad for the family of the people who were innocent and are missing. It would be wonderful for them if they finally found out what happened. I look forward to you posting about it when it does.

    1. Hi Alicia . It's good to hear from you.
If and when a new search will be carried out, I'll again be attracted to follow the news., and probably posting about it. It's a fascinating subject to anyone who gets on a plane.

  2. Did you hear the theory it landed on a mysterious island? I remember that one, though I don't recall why it was said to have landed on an island. It was alongside the "secret faction wanted someone taken out" idea.

It certainly is a mystery. I think the truth is probably a simple crash, maybe engine failure.

    1. There were many theories at the time, Sandy, including engine failure. I can't recall all of them, but the Indian Ocean, seas, and islands were indeed the usual discussed places.

  3. It's hard to believe that mystery has gone on for so long, Duta. Maybe, answers are right around the corner.

    1. Well, that's a fact, Martha. Perhaps one of the past theories is after all, the right one. Who knows.
We'll see what happens next, if a new search will be carried out. Then, we'll be more clever.

    1. Nine(9) years is not enough time, Christine? How much time is needed? It's not a needle, it is a huge plane (or it was ; maybe the sharks devoured it, who knows?).

    1. Heart breaking indeed. I'm very much for the new search proposed. The families of the victims deserve an answer. Besides, aviation and people travelling by plane will also benefit from the conclusions of the solved mystery.

Naturally, because of the passing of time, occurences, even tragic ones, get forgotten.

  9. It would be helpful to know what happened, in order to prevent it from happening again. Aviation authorities have learned from many disasters. It must be terrible for families who do not know what led to it.

    1. Exactly. A two -fold goal: prevention of another such disaster, and closure for the relatives.

Here's to at least, one good thing that could happen in 2024!

    1. Technology or not, searches for the missing plane should never stop. Malaysia and China owe it to the victims and their families.

  12. It is indeed a fascinating mystery. I sometimes wonder that new technology might yield new results, but I don't know that we'll ever know.

    1. As a mystery story , it's great. However, we cannot feel any pleasure or excitement from reading about it. 239 lives lost, and their relatives thrown into a long suffering.

  13. I wonder if the advanced technology will give a final solution that is accepted by most people. Everyone seemed totally wedded to one belief or another, even before the first research was published.
Just to clarify my point, consider the pandemic called Spanish Flu in 1918-1919 where millions of people died. Yet Spain was NEVER the source of the killer virus. The US was, most likely.

    1. In matters like viruses and bacteria the source is hard to detect even scientifically. See Covid.. Everyone is convinced China is the source, and yet I don't know of any written, conclusive report on that.

In the case of the missing plane, new technology might give the solution.
