There's a dog statue near the entrance of a Vetcenter in an adjacent town. Whenever I'm around, I stop to have a look at it. It is a well- made statue , and it makes me smile ; it seems as if the dog stands there in the position of a security guard:)

Dogs are good for security. The dog is an intelligent animal, capable to detect danger, especially due to its extraordinay sense of smell (300 million scent receptors!). They say that properly trained, any breed can make a good guard.
Despite technology and its gadgets, dog protection of house and property will probably continue to be the favorite option. Barking of a dog may be enough to scare away potential intruders. Sometimes, even the mere presence of a dog might do that.
Here's something for the 'mural hunters':
Maybe there is a camera in that dog statue. It seems more and more cameras are around to catch the action. The mural makes me think of some of the graffiti on the train that passes through our town. We don't know what it means either.
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping you are having a good April. Still a chill of winter lingering here. Of course, we have have had drain issues and that has been where many long hours have came in this week.
Maybe. Anyway, it's good publicity and an attraction to passersby.
DeleteOur weather is OK; no complaints, except that it's getting hot.
Dogs are great guard animals and they bark their way into your heart. That is a great statue alright!
ReplyDeleteIndeed. They are a combination of loyalty and protection which is quite unique to them.
DeleteThat dog statue is really good, very life-like!
ReplyDeleteTrue. It's amazing how real it looks.
DeleteDogs are great for safety and your right - their bark may deter someone from coming in. That statue looked real.
ReplyDeleteBarking might sometimes harm an elderly passerby, and cause heart trouble. I've heard about a real case.
DeleteDogs are the most intelligent and protective animal anywhere. To protect your home, to help the blind walk in open streets, to detect drugs at airports.. there is no limit to what a well trained dog can do.
ReplyDeleteAgree. No limit to what they can do to help humans and their property.
DeleteDearest Duta,
ReplyDeleteWell made statue!
Yes, dogs are very keen animals that use their sixth sense in an exceptional way.
Animals are far more intelligent as what lots of people think.
Even kitties know a lot more than humans. They sense when we're in pain and act as a body guard, trying to protect you and guard you.
Our sense of smell, hearing and seeing is far below that of animals...
Hugs,
Mariette
Correct. The statue is amazingly well-made. Dogs are intelligent, protective , and loyal to humans.
DeleteAMEM!
DeleteHere's to dog security
ReplyDeleteHere's to it!
DeleteInteresting that they have him chained! ☺️
ReplyDeleteYes, interesting. That's part of making him look real.
DeleteThat's a very realistic dog! Yes, I know what you mean about a dog for home protection. We have Rick's son's dog this week and when anyone comes in everyone knows! Wishing you a blessed Passover, Duta, and thank you for your visits and always kind comments.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome, Jeanie. Blessings and a Happy Easter to you and family!
DeleteI love the dog! Happy Passover!
ReplyDeleteWhat's not to love:) Happy Easter to you and family, Jenn!
DeleteWe are safe with our dog around for sure. Loved the statue! Janice
ReplyDeleteHaving a dog gives one a feeling of being protected, and that's a good feeling.
DeleteThe above Vetcenter is a little gem, and the dog is a really nice addition.
A very realistic statue of the dog. I love the colours in the mural.
ReplyDeletePassover joy to you.
The strong colors of blue, green shabby , purple in the mural, save the shabby wall on which it appears from 'anonymity'. Behind the wall there's a gymnastics hall for kids after school hours.
DeleteDogs are great companions. The positive effects of having a dog on mental health have been well documented.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely. Studies have shown that dogs can strenghten immunity, decrease cholesterol levels, blood pressure, feelings of loneliness, anxiety, and sugnificantly reduce stress.
ReplyDeletethecontemplativecat@blogspot.com here. The statue looks so real! We live in a retirement community, where the median age is about 80. The widowed often have dogs, little puff ball to middle sized.
ReplyDeleteIncredibly real-looking! A little dog might save the elderly from loneliness and isolation.
DeleteThat dog statue is very fitting for the vets! :) We do have a dog but the things he choses to bark at do not make him a good security dog, haha. He barks when he is excited, so when there are possums or friends or family come over. We have trained him not to bark at the delivery people, but it means when other strangers come to the door he rarely barks, ha! We have a security system instead.
ReplyDeleteWhat bothers me is that barking might startle an elderly person, and cause health trouble. I've just heard about such a case. On the whole, however, dogs are very appreciated.
DeleteArgentine rescuers working with two Federal Police dogs helped. after 10 days, to find three people alive in the rubble left by the devastating earthquake in Turkey.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, many lives have been saved in disaster places using the help of specially trained dogs.
DeleteThe dog statue looks lifelike !
ReplyDeleteNo doubt, the sculptor did a great job!
DeleteAt first glance I thought the statue is a real dog.
ReplyDeleteEven at the second glance one can hardly believe it's not a real dog. Kudos to its sculptor!
DeleteWow, the person who made that was talented because it looks so real.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I keep saying to myself whenever I'm there. Great sculptor!
DeleteThat is such a realistic looking sculpture. Dogs are wonderful company.
ReplyDeleteI'm a great admirer of realistic art, and the dog statue is indeed a realistic representation of the animal.
DeletePor algo está considerado en todo el mundo, el mejor amigo del hombre.
ReplyDeletePor la cadena que lo tiene atado desde el rabo a una columna, podíamos decir que es el guardián, guardado...
Un abrazo, amiga.
The dog is indeed considered everywhere 'man's best friend', and not wirhout reason, considering this animal's loyalty and protection.
DeleteThat is such a good dog statue/sculpture.
ReplyDeleteI like the mural at the end of this post.
All the best Jan
About the mural. I'm planning to ask someone at that gym hall, who's done it and what does it mean.
