So far, the weather here is fine; so I get a little depressed when I read in your blogs about snow and freezing cold.
Luckily, the descriptions of decorations, ornaments , greeting cards, gifts, food, and other Christmas preparations are very, very heart-warming and eye- pleasing!
The December holidays: Christmas. and our jewish Hanukkah - are family holidays, celebrations of togetherness, lights, gift-giving, good food.
The Christmas tree with its colorful lights and the Menora with its eight candle lights, illuminate our lives and uplift our spirit.
Here are some nice rhymes to go with 'weather' and 'together':
'As long as we are together /who cares about the weather'?
'You can be as cold as the winter weather/ but I don't care as we are together'
I will help you get better/ when you feel under the weather

Speaking of the weather…We are having a storm tonight, snow and blowing snow for the first time this season.
ReplyDeleteWe will decorate for the holidays this weekend. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season!
That's the spirit! Decorations despite the bad weather. Happy Holiday to you and yours!
DeleteNice rhymes!
ReplyDeleteI like rhymes; they make phrases sound more festive. Nowadays, with all those web sites helping with rhyming, everyone can get "poetic".
DeleteI like this! When the weather is bad, I'll think of it as together weather!
ReplyDeleteGood idea! Bad weather won't prevent us from getting together.
DeleteI love your rhymes! Sending all good wishes for a Happy Hanukkah to you, halfway across the world!
ReplyDeleteThanks. As I've mentioned in a previous reply, nowadays, everyone can be a "poet".
DeleteWishing you a wonderful Christmas and a pleasant winter!
I agree that both Hanukkah and Christmas are family holidays, but they can be enjoyed with one's family of origin or family of choice.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, Kathy. The two December holidays can be enjoyed together or separately, according to the choice of each of the families.
DeleteSnow and freezing cold is, I imagine, depressing for everyone. The southern hemisphere is very smart having Christmas and Hanukkah in the middle of the summer - school holidays, family togetherness and good food that can be eaten on the beach :)
ReplyDeleteSummer is the ideal season for festivities.
DeleteHowever, we must give winter too some credit and respect :)
Wishing you a sweet and joyous Hanukah! It is 65 here, dark and cloudy. Who knows whether the sun will appear?
ReplyDeleteYes, it sounds gloomy. And yet, the joy must go on! Have a great Holiday!
DeleteThanks for the wonderful post. Luckily, the big storm missed us. Although, close by the interstate has been close. I hope you are having a lovely holiday.
ReplyDeleteStorms, snow, rain - closing life. That's the reality of winter almost everywhere.
DeleteA lovely Holiday to you too!
Sending love and blessings to you DUTA, for a wonderful Chanukah. May your home be filled with the light of the menorah and the joy of the holiday. We have only one Jewish family in our church community. They also celebrate Chanukah and not really Christmas. He has written a nice article about Chanukah.
ReplyDeleteO and I love the sunny freezing weather. It's so beautiful outside. Let it freeze, then young and old can enjoy skating. the sunny freezing weather. It's so beautiful outside.
Hi, Aritha. It's good to hear from you.
DeleteThanks for your love and blessings.
Wishing you happy holidays and great enjoyment of the beautiful outdoors!
Aritha, can you post the article he wrote? I'd love to read it.
DeleteSandy, you may address Aritha directly. That would be best.
DeleteNice rhymes, indeed! : )
ReplyDeleteThey keep us warm:)
DeleteNo snow, no freezing cold weather but we have lots of rain. It is going to be a wet Christmas this year. Wishing you Merry Christmas and happy holidays in advance.
ReplyDeleteWe badly need rain here, in my country, and it's not coming yet. So far, just a few drops here and there.
DeleteWishing you a merry Christmas despite the rain and the other weather elements!
in Poland we have truly, snowy weather. It is really white and cold outside
ReplyDeleteI suppose you're used to it in winter , Kathy.
DeletePerhaps you even enjoy the white covered spaces.
Row a boat together through the bad weather and we can reach our destination. Happy weekend to you.
ReplyDeleteRight. Even in bad weather we can do good things together such as rowing a boat to a certain destination. Togetherness wins.
DeleteA happy weekend to you, too!
I do like your rhymes.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a happy weekend.
All the best Jan
Hope you're coping well with the cold weather. Wishing you a warm and happy weekend as well!
DeleteI was just thinking we have not had a major snowstorm as of yet. Would like a it of snow for Christmas though. Loved your rhymes! Janice
ReplyDeleteIndeed, snow goes well with Christmas. It's probably 'on the way', and won't let you down.
DeleteThese holidays must be really hard for people who live alone and don't have any family. I feel for them.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are, Carola. However, during the holidays, only those who wish to be left alone are alone.
DeleteSometimes one feels more lonely within a gathering and refuses invitation to that festive gathering
Keep rhyming ..keep chiming !
ReplyDeleteGood advice! Rhyming and chiming may add to the visual, verbal and audio pleasure.
DeleteHappy Hanukkah, Duta!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sandi. Have a happy and wonderful holiday season!
DeleteThanks, Duta. You too!
DeleteWe hardly ever get any snow where I live and when we do it's just an inch or two. But it is cold right now so anything is possible.
ReplyDeleteJust like in our place. No snow, and what's of concern , not even rain. Nice, sunny days, but at night it's cold.
DeleteWe rarely get snow, but there is some in the forecast for this next week. We will wait and see how much actually materializes. Today has been grey and rainy and the lights on the Christmas tree and mantels really add coziness to the house.
ReplyDeleteYes, Lorrie, the lights and decorations indoors, definitely make up for the gloominess of the weather outdoors.
DeleteUm excelente domingo com muita saúde e paz minha querida amiga Duta.
ReplyDeleteThanks , Luiz. Wishing you the same!
DeleteWishing you a Happy Hanukkah, Duta, and we also have not had any snow unlike other parts of the state. I would like some but after holiday travels to visit family is over, then it can snow as much as possible.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately this doesn't count for me as I prefer to stay alone this year. It's the first without Rick.
ReplyDeleteI understand your feelings, Gattina. First Christmas without your beloved husband Rick. Sad, very sad.
DeleteMay Rick's soul rest in peace! May God give you the strength and will to go on with your life!
Uma quarta-feira com muita paz e saúde minha querida amiga Duta.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Wishing the same for you.
DeleteHappy Chanukah Duta! Thanks for the warm rhymes and friendly chimes, may the joy of the season deter all crimes, and may there be Shalom upon Jerusalem!!
ReplyDeleteHow do you like my spontaneous rhymes!? I just went with the flow from your post!!
May there be pleasant weather, and like the Psalm says, How good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell together!❤️
Oh, Shayndel you are so, so talented! God has gifted you with lots of skills, and a good, fine character.
DeleteHappy Chanukah , dear soul!
Lovely decorations. We too have very warm weather together. Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah.
ReplyDeleteWell, the weather in Australia is warm, but together , on holdays, it gets even warmer.
DeleteWishing you a wonderful holiday season!
Yes the lights of both holidays brighten us all. I like your comparisons. The weather has been frightful. We were -7 the other day and the warmest it's been in 4 days is 16. It's nasty out there and very windy so lots of limbs from trees down and snow drifts after the plows have been through trying to clear things up. It suppose to warm up in a day or two, sure looking forward to that. Hope all of your holidays are filled with love.
ReplyDeleteI feel for you and all the people of USA and Canada that were hit by the arctic weather. I'm glad it's supposed to warm up soon.
DeleteWishing you and yours a wonderful 2023!
