Happy New Year 2021

I had to take a break from blogging and other activities in mid-December as my home was in need of some repairs.

Moreover, my  PC has to be replaced ( haven't done that yet) as its old operation system XP gets no technical support any more. I definitely have to have Windows 10.

Now, we've entered third Lockdown for a period of at  least two weeks .

Hopefully, new mutations won't make covid -19  vaccine a joke, as in the case of the flu- vaccine. The later has to be administered to people every year according to the virus mutation of that year. There are still many deaths in the world following flu complications with or without the vaccine, and yet pharma companies get richer and richer with their product.

Anyway, right now the covid-19 vaccines seem to be the only ray of light at the end of the dark tunnel, at least on the medical front. (So far, two  mutations of the virus have been spotted: in Britain, and in India).

No idea what's going to happen on the other major fronts: economic, social, educational. Not good things, I'm afraid.  Coronavirus has revealed to us the true face of so-called democracy: utter lack of discipline on one hand  (citizens) versus total incompetence on the other hand (governments).

Not a matter of human rights here, but of human greed and stupidity.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year!

Duta

  1. Dear Duta,

Hi! I wish you a happy new year and that you will find the true ray of light at the end of the dark tunnel is not a vaccination, it is Salvation.
    In Hebrew, Yeshua.

I pray this will be the year of your Salvation.

    Much love and blessings, 💕♡

  3. Happy calendar New Year, Duta. I fear that human greed and human stupidity are not going anywhere. Line up those two facts alongside incompetent politicians and crooked governments and you pretty much have the state of the world! No wonder I turn to birds. As for moving to Windows 10, go for it! I did it earlier this year and it was nowhere as bad as I thought it might be! Shalom.

    1. ן'm glad you agree with me, as I sometimes think I'm too harsh on things.
As for Windows 10, thanks for the encouragement. Hope I'll get a
PC with the new OS by end of next month.
Shalom and a Happy calendar New Year!

  5. I heard on the news this morning that the new virus strain has reached the U.S.

But what to believe anymore, especially from the media.

My laptop suffered the same problem as your computer. Luckily, since I am working from home I have my work computer with two monitors. I don't know what I'm going to do when I go back to the office as I love having two huge monitors!

Happy New Year 2021, wish you health and happiness dear DUTA, take care and stay safe and try to keep your spirits up.

    1. Here , people are getting vaccinated with Pfizer vaccine. It has not actually been approved by the FDA but authorized as an emergency measure.
No one knows for sure yet, whether it's efficient against the british mutation.
Thanks for your kind wishes, Alicia.
Happy calendar New Year to you and family!

  6. Here also a lockdown. Fortunately we are allowed to go into nature with two people. So I often go cycling, walking (alone). I don't know what to think of the vaccine. I am careful because I have an allergic reaction to many medicines. Many people are not seriously ill. But others are. That is so confusing. God bless you, Duta. Be careful.

    1. Allergy and vaccine don't go well together, as far as I know. You're right to act cautiously.
      God bless you too, Aritha!

  7. The virus has mutated. Travelers to North America have brought it back. I'm not happy.
That said, they tell us the vaccines work on the spike proteins, and will still be effective, due to the design.
I hope you get a new computer. I love my Macs, though.
Happy New Year! I hope we all get out of this soon.

    1. I don't know what to think and believe any more. I know they say it will be effective, but then I look at the flu vaccine which is selective about mutations.
      Happy New Year!

  8. Best wishes to you, Duta, for 2021 and onward.

The world is a bleak planet today. The prognosis? That's difficult for anybody to say for sure. Too many "unknowns" in the scientistic field and the economics likewise. It's fingers firmly crossed that the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine will prove both effective and more viable than others as we need to ship it worldwide. No good if only 80% get vaccinated; the virus will remain a threat.

Hope you get your new operating system (win10) up and running soon. I still have Win 7 on my old laptop but seldom use it; I prefer my Acer Chromebook which is faster, reliable and has never been infected with viruses or malware. I wish you well.

    1. Exactly, "too many unknowns".
      Oxford/Astra Zeneca has a great
      reputation!
Thank you for mentioning Acer Chromebook; it's good to know such things from an intelligent user.like you.

Best Wishes for 2021 and onward to you and family!

  9. And of couple of mutations here in the U.S. in Colorado. Many places still closed here, still no schools, no churches, etc open.
Happy New Year, Duta. Take care and stay safe.

    1. I've noticed that whenever schools open, there's a drastic rise in the number of infected. They say kids are asymptomatic but great spreaders of the virus.
Wishing you the very Best for the New Year 2021, Pam!

  10. You have summed up the current state of affairs realistically. Things can only get better, hopefully. I heard that the coronavirus may stay with us just like the flu and the vaccine will change a bit every year, like the flu vaccine – difficult times. Let’s hope that 2021 will be brighter.

  11. Happy New Year! May it be a better year but despite it all, 2020 was a year filled with God's blessings and protection for me and my family, so I'm going to just keep trusting him in 2021 and beyond :) Like another commenter said, that new mutated virus is in the States; I heard Colorado and now California. Interestingly the Spanish Flu back in 2018 mutated too and that mutation was more deadlier than the original flu. Here I heard it was the other way around, more contagious but less deadly. I honestly don't know if the scientists know what they are doing or anything about this virus. That's why I have trouble sometimes with "follow the science" a common comment from certain politicians here and just keep trusting God; he has never disappointed me and I don't think he ever will so I think I'll keep following him :)

    Take care of yourself!

  13. You have been missed, Duta. I hope the needed home repairs are over now, also that you will be able to replace you computer. It's unfortunate (and costly) when things happen all at once. I also hope the vaccine will alleviate some of the pandemic situation. Sending best wishes to you for a Happier New Year (in time).

  17. Happy New Year, Duta. I can relate to your computer issues. Mine is running slow and I need 10, too, but really hate to change. Time for me to do a new back-up.

Somehow you managed to sum up things in few words, all spot on. We can only hope. I must say, I keep hearing good things in our news about how well Israel is handling things with Covid and the vaccine. I wish I could say the same. I did find good things in 2021 and have hope for the new year. But a lot of the same characters will still be in the script -- and I don't like their plot lines!

Take care, my friend. And have a lovely New Year.

    1. Yes, my computer is slow, its OS not supported, and I must act and buy a new one soon, as I wouldn't be able to blog.

It appears Israelis are welcoming the Pfizer vaccine, and a million people got vaccinated so far.
The situation in hospitals, however, looks bad. A lot of covid cases. We're on third lockdown.
      May God help us!
Happy New Year to you and family!

  18. Wishing you a Happy New Year, as well DUTA. All we can do is hope for the best. Other than taking the precautions that we can, things are out of our control. I guess it's always been that way, but we were able to convince ourselves otherwise much of the time, it seems. The world, in 2020, veered off the tracks, for way too many.

    1. Be quick about getting a new one, not like me. Not being able to get updates, causes a lot of problems with work on the computer. For example, you tube video won't always play when inserted in a blog.
