Moskow 9 -- Moskva river boat tour

Moscow, the capital city of Russia, is situated on the banks of the river Moskva . A river trip or cruise is a great and...monotonous way to see the city center and its main attractions; no traffic, no smog, no pressure of any kind. It's cool and cozy inside the cabin;  you can buy a drink and enjoy the views .

There are all kinds of boats circulating on the river, and several kinds of tours to choose from. I bought my tour ticket at the embankment near the Kievskaya metro/railway station ( a very impressive building in itself). It was a one way ticket to Novospassky bridge, and from there I walked up to Proletarskaya metro station.

The views on both sides of the river are captivating: the "Red October"chocolate factory (I fell for their milk bar 'Alenka'), Gorki Park (russian Disnyland),  the Kremlin, St. Basil's Cathedral, Moscow State University, the Tetryakov Gallery, Peter the Great monument, etc...

Peter the Great monument (partially captured)

At the end of this leisurely water trip, I felt glad I gave myself the opportunity of seeing  Moscow from another angle.

Hi Ola,

Indeed, the river boat tour was a happy combination of relaxation on the one hand, and pleasure derived from the sights along the route, on the other hand.

Ramakrishnan Ramanathan,

Thanks for your very kind words.I totally agree with your opinion on cruises.
In summer, when the waters are calm they bestow this calm upon the people on the boat too.

Vera,

The feet, oh our little feet...the whole body relies on them. There comes a time when we must have pity and compassion for their endurance. In this respect, a boat trip is ideal.

I enjoyed seeing Moscow on your tour also! Red October chocolate factory......what an interesting name, I am sure the chocolate was good

Kim,

The chocolate made at this Red October factory is one of the best I've ever tasted. I liked it even more than the swiss or belgium brands.

Water is a big draw for people, isn't it?

DUTA said...

Indeed it is, especially on vacations.I wouldn't like, though, to live too close to a body of water. It has its disadvantages: inundations, high humidity, corrosion of house parts etc...

Very beautiful... I'v never seen Moscow from its namegiving river!

Pink Panthress,

So, you also know that Moskva the city derives its name from the name of the river? The two go well together, complement each other. A trip on the river is very recommendable.
